"Após 1834, com a extinção do Juízo da Conservatória, ou seja do foro jurídico privado que a Companhia gozava desde a sua instituição, a Companhia, no exercício da sua actividade, continuou a ter conflitos jurídicos, os quais passaram a ser dirimidos nos tribunais comuns. Devido à especificidade da produção documental, optámos por reunir as séries produzidas e recebidas numa subsecção que mdesignámos por Contencioso, dentro da secção Administração do Escritório e Contadoria, e que actualmente integraria os serviços de secretaria.
